The need for a more holistic approach to not just reentry but to criminal justice practice in this country has never been greater. Releasing prisoners without seriously addressing their legitimate reentry needs amounts to yet another half measure that will only perpetuate the repetitive reactionary swinging of the criminal justice policy pendulum between harsher sentences and relief from those sentences. When will we connect the dots between poor schools, limited economic opportunities, and crime?
